Outfit Roundup #6

& Some Spring Work From Home Looks

Now, I won’t lie - I am still spending the bulk of my time working from home wearing sweatpants or activewear, hoping that the latter will make it somehow easier for me to get some movement in throughout the day. But it has been nice to actually put on “street clothes” at least twice a week, maybe more if I’m feeling up for it. There’s just something about an actual outfit that has helped shift my mindset in a more productive, positive direction as I’m trying to navigate a new normal in the current circumstances. I am faking it until I make it. “Put the face on, put the clothes on and the sense of normalcy will come” is what I tell myself. It kinda works.

I recognize that I am very privileged and fortunate to continue to be able to work from home while many countries are on lockdown, but if you’re in a similar situation and struggling to keep it together - especially if you have kids or if you’re a primary caregiver to a family member in need, know that you are not alone and don’t let this put any sort of weird pressure on you to get ready if you don’t feel like it. We all have different ways to cope with trauma and change, and we’re navigating a really difficult time as a global community. I have seen plenty of insensitive, tone-deaf content out there and I certainly do not want to contribute to the weird internet “IT’S TIME TO BE MORE PRODUCTIVE THAN EVER!!” movement. This article by the New York Times really resonated with me.

The white cotton tee has been a strong daily favorite over the last few weeks whether it’s been a jeans day or a sweatpants day. I prefer 100% cotton tees with a crew neckline and a more boxy cut. In the images I’m wearing an old shirt from Topshop, but H&M, Everlane and & Other Stories make great ones too. I have a tendency to be cold no matter what season, and depending on my mood and the number of video calls I want to turn the camera on for, I opt for either an oversized blazer, denim jacket or my new fave a cozy knit on top just to keep my back warm. I love the casual yet cool touch offered by draping a simple knit over my shoulders and I have been doing it tons. Sweatshirt or hoodies are great cozy options as well :)

I hope you are hanging in there.
