Enamored with Amoureux

I had an intensive makeup clear-out last weekend and it felt great to get rid of products that were old, expired or not my style anymore. Some were used up products that I had saved for an empties video (watch it here) and others were old AF and needed to hit the garbage bin. I was left with a gap that I rushed to fill... and what better thing to fill the gap with than with a new lip product?

Every brand is jumping on the bandwagon and creating matte liquid lipsticks for us to indulge in. CHANEL is the latest brand to join the trend with the recently released Rouge Allure Ink formula. I had just finished up one of my go-to everyday nude lipsticks, Chanel Boy, so I felt compelled to replace it with an everyday nude lipstick shade from the new Rouge Allure Ink formula. I settled on #140, Amoureux.

The formula is velvety and has a silicone-based slip to it. It's opaque and easy to apply on the lips with the flocked applicator. The applicator is beveled on both sides, which is a nice touch. The packaging is super chic - frosted glass on the bottom and the classic black cap with gold Chanel logo at the top. Fragrance-wise, I do not pick up any fragrance at all when I apply this product on my lips. If I get super close up with my nose to smell it, it smells a bit similar to the Rouge Allure lipsticks but a lot less intense. I can't say it's a significant scent by any means, and you know by now that I'm a picky truffle pig when it comes to the scent of lip products.

Finish & Wear Time

It's not as matte as other matte liquid lipsticks on the market. It dries down to a satin-matte finish and still has a bit of slip on the lips even after it dried down. This might be a deterrent for you if you are a fan of classic matte liquid lipstick formulas. I, however, find it a very welcome difference. It's comfortable. It doesn't make my lips look dry and rough, instead it makes them look comfortable and chic. It's a youthful matte finish, if that makes any sense. The hydrating ingredients in the formula keep the lips looking fresh, and it does not accentuate every crevice of your lip surface.

Chanel Rouge Allure Ink in Amoureux strikes the perfect balance between pink and peach. It's a perfect fleshy nude that isn't too pale. It can hold its own whether you wear a smoky eye or no eye makeup at all and that makes it the perfect type of shade to keep in my everyday makeup bag. The closest thing I have to it in my current makeup collection is Nudestix Kiss Intense Matte Lip & Cheek Pencil, albeit that one is a hint more rosy and bright on the lips. Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick in Nude Flush is another close contender albeit with a bit more mauve running through it. Overall, this Chanel liquid lipstick is a total winner for me. I love this formula and if you're a liquid lipstick skeptic like me, you have to give these a try. Let's say no to dry crusty lips!
