Splashing into K-Beauty

Meet Blithe Patting Splash Mask and ditch all your preconceived notions of what a face mask should look and act like. This is a liquid mask enriched with naturally-derived hydrating extracts formulated help skin maintain its moisture levels. I remembered an article about patting water packs on Into The Gloss when the craze for Korean beauty products first began and had been wondering about their efficacy since. A face mask that you just… splash onto your face? I was skeptical initially butI've been pleasantly surprised by this product. Blithe offers different varieties:

The yellow option is infused with 60% lemon and honey extracts to promote a brighter complexion; the green option is packed with green tea extract and tee tree oil to clarify and help refine pore texture; and the purple option is formulated with berry extract to help restore elasticity to skin. Since I have oily/combination skin that tends to be acne prone, I opted for the Soothing & Healing Green Tea version.

I’ve been thinking of it more as a gentle acid toner and the results have been comparable to more traditional AHA/BHA toners I’ve tried in the past, albeit more gentle. I have been appreciating the gentle approach to skincare more and more, having suffered the brunt of over-exfoliation too many times to count. Slow and steady wins the race, eh?

how to use blithe splash mask

I have tried using it as the instructions suggest but found it to be quite messy. By far the easiest method of application has been in the shower. I wet my skin first, then apply half a capful of product in my cupped hand and pat it onto the skin. I leave it on for 20-30 seconds then rinse. This method of application can be used at the sink as well.

After patting and splashing my face into oblivion, I then apply a hyaluronic acid-rich serum (Jordan Samuel Skin Hydrate Serum has been a long-time favorite) and moisturizer and sunscreen if it’s a daytime routine. I have really enjoyed switching it up with an entirely different yet still familiar type of product. Korean beauty products have been offering a gentle yet much-needed refresh in my daily skincare routine. You can find Blithe products along with a myriad of other K-Beauty options at YesStyle.
