Products I’m Loving

A Few Current Beauty Favorites

I've been really into these products that I'm having a hard time keeping quiet until I film my next monthly favorites video. Here’s a sneak peak:

I'm on a mission to use up base products and in the process, I have found the dreamiest combination. Yes, it's excessive to require mixing two products for the perfect base, but if you're a foundation junkie like me you're probably well aware of the magic that can happen when you mix foundations. Case in point: It Cosmetics CC Cream and L'Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation  a perfect case of "when two wrongs make a right".

The It Cosmetics CC Cream has a laughable lasting power on my oily/combination skin. I love the coverage, I love the finish, I love the olive/yellow undertone of the shade Medium and I love the SPF 50 it boasts. However, when it comes to wear time, it falls short for me. Here comes the knight in shining armor: L'Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Foundation. Formula-wise, this is one of my favorites. It smooths my skin texture, has a soft matte finish and great lasting power. I also love the travel-friendly packaging. The place where this range falls short on, though, is the shade selection. I do not have a match. I use shade 102 which is light and slightly cool-toned and I mix it with all the warm darker formulas in my collection. I mix it in equal parts: one pump CC Cream to 1 dollop of Pro Matte. The result is great medium (to medium full) coverage that doesn't look cakey and that doesn't fade or make me look like a greaseball by lunchtime. It's glorious.

The Giorgio Armani Cheek Fabric Blush in #503 Daybreak is soft, subtle pink perfection. If you're into nude blushes you will love this subtle pink twist. Shade #502 in their current line-up is similar. It doesn't make you look too flushed but it adds a bit more dimension to the cheeks. It has a very soft sheen that doesn't emphasize pores and it's a great colour for fair to light skins. I wouldn't be able to use it with a tan, but it's a super nice option for winter and spring before the St. Tropez Tanning Mousse comes out in full force!

In terms of colour, Urban Decay Tease eyeshadow is back into my life after a long hiatus. If you have hooded eyes and want to push back that extra skin that hangs over your eyelids, this colour applied slightly above the crease will create that illusion. It's such a soft neutral taupe shade and it works with both cooler eyeshadows as well as warm ones on top. A must have crease colour/transition shade for everyone!

On my nails, I've been using the Vitry Nail Repair Treatment as a base coat and it's awesome. I'm currently using the Sensitive version which is formaldehyde free. You can find it at Nail Polish Canada if you're a fellow Canuck - the shipping's fast and affordable and they carry all the top nail product brands. I have a full size bottle of the Original formula which is very very very reminiscent to my old faithful OPI Nail Envy. If you're more health conscious, the Sensitive formula is also super effective and will give you that extra peace of mind. It dries quickly and leaves a shiny protective layer onto my nails. I am currently in the process of growing out some damage from a gel manicure, and this base coat makes my nails look healthier instantly.
